Rocket strikes Vatican embassy in Syria

Damascus, Nov 5 (IANS/AKI): A missile struck the offices of the Pope's envoy in the Syrian capital Damascus on Tuesday, a member of staff said.

"I confirm that this morning at 6.30 a.m., a rocket hit our offices," said an advisor to the papal nuncio or ambassador, Mario Zenari.

The rocket landed on a balcony causing damage to the building but no casualties, a nun who was visiting the embassy at the time told AKI.

"We are all fine," the unnamed nun told AKI.

The embassy is located in central Damascus.
