Fans eye second shot at World Cup tickets


Rio de Janeiro, Nov 6 (IANS): Almost 230,000 World Cup seats will be available during the tournament's second ticketing phase starting Monday (Nov 11), world football's governing body FIFA said in a statement.

Fans will have until Nov 28 to apply for tickets before a third and final installment will go on sale following the World Cup draw Dec 8, reported Xinhua.

Requests can be made via FIFA's official website with successful applicants to be drawn from a lottery.

FIFA said 889,305 tickets were allocated to fans during the first sales phase, which ended Oct 10.

Brazil accounted for the highest number of successful applicants with 625,276 tickets, followed by the US (66,646), Britain (22,257), Germany (18,019), Australia (15,401), Canada (13,507), France (11,628) and Colombia (11,326).
