Berlin, Nov 7 (IANS): Aaron Ramsey's header smoothed the way for Arsenal's 1-0 triumph over Borussia Dortmund at a sold-out Signal Iduna Park in Group F of the Champions League.
The Gunners had a ball possession of 53 percent in the first half Wednesday. But it was the home side that created the only noteworthy opportunity through Henrikh Mkhitaryan, reports Xinhua.
The Armenian international had just Arsenal's goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny to beat but pulled his shot just wide from inside the box in the 37th minute.
Things changed in the second half as Dortmund pressed the visitors into defence as Marco Reus and Jakub Blaszczykowski tested Szczesny twice.
Arsenal took the lead against the run of play when Ramsey's header from close range found the back of the net, following Olivier Giroud's assist at the 62nd minute.
The visitors capitalised on their momentum and put the home side under pressure. Meanwhile, Dortmund frenetically pressed for the equaliser but failed to find one.
As a consequence, the Premier League leaders keep control of Group F as they sit atop the standings with three victories followed by Napoli, Dortmund and Marseille.
