Two CRPF troopers killed in Kashmir guerrilla attack

Srinagar, Nov 7 (IANS): Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers were killed Thursday in a guerrilla attack in south Kashmir's Pulwama district.

A senior police officer told IANS that two CRPF troopers were killed when militants fired at them from close range in Jawbrara (Awantipora) on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, 27 km from the summer capital Srinagar.

"Militants fired at a road opening party (ROP) of the 130 battalion of the CRPF.

"Two CRPF jawans, critically injured in the firing by militants, later succumbed to injuries," the officer said.
