Dubai, April 2: Whether it is a community or nation, the foundation has to be built. When the foundation is strong, construction will see smooth progress. Youth are strong foundations of  any community or nation.

Mangalore Diocese has tremendous record for the contribution of youth for its progress. Everyone who has grown up in parish level must have heard of youth movement within the parish. CYM (Catholic Youth Movement) is the familiar name for those who were involved in youth activities of parish until mid-1990s. The organization was renamed a few years ago as ICYM (Indian Catholic Youth movement).

Fr Elias D`Souza, who is instrumental in bringing up the youth talents at the diocese level and uniting the young powers at larger scale within Mangalore Diocese is currently in a trip to Dubai along with Anil Permai, former president of ICYM Mangalore Diocese. The purpose of the visit is very clear. They seek advice from former CYM/ ICYM youth leaders and members to make the organization more active and meaningful in the jubilee year. The celebration is planned, but the concern is how to work towards the benefit of Mangalore Diocesan youth.

A general meet has been called on Wednesday, April 5, 2006 between 8-00 pm and 9-30 pm in the party hall of Karama Hotel, behind Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Karama, Dubai.

It is very important for all those who were associated with CYM/ICYM to attend this meet as the purpose is only to exchange the idea and discuss some useful youth developmental schemes.

THERE IS NO ENTRY FEES, NOR ANY REQUEST FOR DONATION NOR ANY VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTION EXPECTED TO BE MADE. THE PURPOSE OF THE MEET IS PURELY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE YOUTH OF THE MANGALORE DIOCESE.

Fr Elias wants to meet the youth leaders; members of various organizations, and all those who involved in youth activities back home as well in Dubai to carry back valuable feedback to the diocese.

A committee of 20 members has been formed forthis purpose and suggestions are collected from the youth in diocese.
