Kundapur: Farmer dies after being hit by train

Kundapur, Nov 9: A farmer was killed after he was knocked down by a running train at Nada Guddeangadi here on Friday November 8.

The deceased has been identified as Shankar (45).

It is said that Shankar left for work in his field which needed him to cross over the rail track.

The Mumbai-Mangalore Express Train (CST) knocked the farmer down while he was crossing the track. As a result, he was thrown at least 40 metres away, killing him on the spot.

As soon as the news spread, locals rushed to the spot and called up helpline number and the police immediately. Helpline personnel Afghan and Sudheer Nayakwadi shifted the body to a hospital for post-mortem.

Gangolli inspector Parameshwarappa, sub-inspector Babu, H C Jagadish visited the spot and registered a case.
