Quake hits Delhi


New Delhi, Nov 12 (IANS): An earthquake measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale jolted Delhi and its neighbouring areas past midnight Monday, an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

"The earthquake measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale hit after 12.30 a.m (local time) here. The epicentre of the earthquake feels to be in the national capital territory. However, we are still analysing the data," the IMD official told IANS.

Another tremor of the similar intensity was felt within an hour.

"A light aftershock was recorded within an hour's time of the earthquake which hit NCR (national capital region) around 12.30 a.m. We are analysing the data, however, the epicentre is still not clear," the official added.
