Mumbai, Nov 14 (IANS): A benchmark index of Indian equities markets surged 274.14 points or 1.36 percent up in the morning trade Thursday.
All the sectors were trading in green. The rally was led by banking index (bankex), auto, capital goods and metal sectors.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 20,351.39 points, was trading at 20,468.54 points in the early session, up 274.14 points or 1.36 percent from previous day's close at 20,194.40 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 20,496.57 points and a low of 20,348.27 points during the trade so far.
The S&P BSE bankex surged 325.35 points, auto index augmented by 240.70 points, capital goods index gained 193.06 points and metal index went up by 106.08 points.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading up at 85.15 points or 1.42 percent at 6,074.75 points.
