An embarrassing defeat: Sammy

Mumbai, Nov 16 (IANS): West Indies captain Darren Sammy said it was embarrassing to lose the two Test series against India in the way they did.

"I am very disappointed, it is a bit embarrassing actually. We came here hoping to play much better," said Sammy after his team suffered the second consecutive innings defeat of the two match series here Saturday.

"It is a reality check after winning six Tests. India really showed us how to play Test cricket. Our batsmen should take a leaf out of Rohit's (Sharma) book, the way he batted with the No.11 was fantastic. We have to believe in ourselves," he said looking at the three ODIs beginning Nov 21 in Kochi.

He chose to congratulate Sachin Tendulkar, who played his farewell Test in Mumbai.

"From the West Indies team and people back home, we wish Sachin all the best. It has been an honour to play against him. The fans in India have set the benchmark on how we should celebrate a hero."
