Two people held for burglary at Delhi church


New Delhi, Nov 17 (IANS): A drug addict was arrested and a juvenile apprehended for a burglary at a south Delhi church last month, police said Sunday.

"Azad alias Ajju, 20, was arrested Nov 13 from a de-addiction centre in Mehrauli where he was undergoing rehabilitation. His accomplice, a 17-year-old juvenile, was also apprehended the same day from the Neb Sarai area," said a police officer.

According to police, they had targeted the St. Mary's Malankara Catholic Church in Neb Sarai and fled with cash and valuables amounting to around Rs.5 lakh on the evening of Oct 8.

Three stolen candle stands and three brass lamps were recovered from their houses.

The police said they were tracking the other accomplices, including a scrap dealer who bought the stolen articles.
