BJP MLAs named in Muzaffarnagar riots case to be honoured

Lucknow, Nov 19 (PTI): A controversy has been sparked with BJP deciding to felicitate its MLAs Sangeet Som and Suresh Rana, accused of inciting communal violence in Muzaffarnagar, at Narendra Modi's rally in Agra on Thursday.

"These two MLAs were lodged in jail and NSA was slapped on them by the Samajwadi Party government. The party will be felicitating them at Modi's rally in Agra and tell the people the truth about Muzaffarnagar riots", BJP state spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said.

Alleging that the state government did not want the truth behind the riots to come out, Pathak said that one of the persons named in the case was made a state guest and provided Y security by the government.

"A person named in the riots is being meted out special treatment while BJP MLAs had to celebrate their festival (Diwali) in jail...This shows the real face of the government, which wanted to gain political mileage out of the sensitive issue", he said.

Som, who was arrested for his alleged role in inciting communal violence in Muzaffarnagar, was recently released on bail by a Deoband court. He was accused of uploading a fake video that played a role in provoking communal tension in Muzaffarnagar. He is also facing allegations of having made inflammatory speeches.

Rana was arrested from Lucknow on September 20 for his alleged role in fanning the communal violence which left 62 persons dead and rendered 40,000 homeless. He was later released on bail.

Pathak said extending the tenure of the judicial commission probing the Muzaffarnagar riots also raises questions on the functioning of the SP government as the report would now come after the Lok Sabha polls.

"The Commission was given two months time for completing the probe. Now its tenure has been increased by another six months, which means the truth behind the riots will not come...The SP government did not want people to know the truth", he alleged.

WOMEN stalking is MODIS,taste,as he himself is without women. Modi’s Gujarat is looking more and more like a police state something similar to what existed in Egypt, Iraq and Libya before Mubarak, Saddam and Gaddafi were thrown out. This incident shouldn’t be seen in isolation. It’s a trend that started with the Gujarat riots in 2002, was followed up with the murder of Haren Pandya, the several fake encounter killings, the crushing of bodies like the Lok Ayukta and RTI, the refusal to rebuild mosques broken in the riots, the shifting of several cases by the SC outside of Gujarat…..all of these tell us about Modi and his style of governance. That’s the larger worry, not this single case by itself (although it is bad enough).

Modi didn’t respond to any of this. I got the impression he was on the back foot here. He hopes the issue will die down on its own, and it very well could, given media’s current obsession with Modi. The Congress is unable to organize large rallies against this, either in Gujarat or Delhi. If the whole thing had played out in reverse – with the Congress caught in Modi’s position – the BJP would have exploited it to the hilt. But the Congress’s inability to communicate its concern is what ails it. It’s not its performance that harms it it’s its inability to assert a political point that does. While Modi is a master with rhetoric, the Congress is particularly inept. It resorts to boring facts and points of law. That’s why Modi gets away with so much muck that is floating all around.

Well, well the true color of BJP is clearly exposed. No surprise if they nominate mouth ka saudhagar as PM candidate. In Karnataka they were planning to honor jailbirds who stole chain, jacket, birthday cake and attacked harmless, helpless, innocent children who were celebrating their birthday at Home Stay. Next they will honor rapist and murderer Asaram Bapu and his son as well. BJP should have a list of criminals to honor them. Disgusting and shameless party of India.

Your comments accusing congress show that you also don't agree with felicitating these accused persons. However, if this news is a creation of Congress, then, by this time, BJP should have denied it. As far as the honouring of Homestay attackers is concerned, after the negative reactions from the public, the arrangers of this honouring must have developed cold feet and backtracked.

    Dear Ayesha Devi
Regarding Home stay attackers felicitations, they dint wait for publics reaction, the day it was reported in some few media, NAMO brigade made the clarification in their face book page same day saying that this is false news and they dint plan any such even, it was simply spread by some vested interests working for pro congress medias. I myself spoke to one of the leader of NaMo Bridage to clarify this as what they are upto and he confirmed me that they dint have any such plans.

Even in this case the state Unit of BJP said that they accused due will participate in the rally and share the stage with the other BJP rulers in NAMO rally. Even rajnath singh has clarified he is not aware of any such hounoring. Only some Procongis shouting here blah blah, you know for what. Who India knows the root for the cause of riots in Muzaffarnagar eeven thought SP & Khangress does not want to talk about this thanks to vote bank. The fixed the BJP guys in the case to harvest more votes at the same time create more insecurity in public so that they can use it during election time. For your kind information They are only fixed in the case by SP Govt not by any locals , who at the same time given clean chit to their own MP who fueled more fire than anybody and saw that the police dint take any action against the concpiritators from his community for votebank. They are only accused and not convicted.
