Washington, Nov 19 (IANS): Disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong has asked that a fraud case instituted against him by the United States government be dismissed.
Armstrong Monday claimed in a hearing that prosecutors missed statute of limitations deadlines in the case in which the US Department of Justice says Armstrong made false claims while accepting $40 million in sponsorship money from the US Postal Service from 1998-2004, reports Xinhua.
US district judge Robert Wilkins was expected to make a ruling within 30 days on the matter but was not expected to toss out the case.
Armstrong was stripped of all results dating back to August 1998, including seven Tour de France victories and received a life ban for doping.
