Tejpal faces arrest after being booked on rape charge

Panaji/New Delhi, Nov 22 (PTI): Tehelka Editor Tarun Tejpal today faced possible arrest after Goa police booked him on rape charge following an allegation by a journalist colleague that he sexually assaulted her during an event a fortnight ago.

A special investigating team of the Crime Branch police will be in Delhi for questioning Tejpal and police are not ruling out arrest.

"An FIR has been filed on charges of rape and outraging of modesty (against Tejpal). This is one part of the process of investigation and law will take its course," DGP Kishan Kumar said in Panaji.

The charges relate to Sections 376 (rape), 376 (2) (rape by a person of a woman in his custody taking advantage of his official position) and 354 (outraging modesty) of IPC, he said.

Asked whether Tejpal would be arrested, the DGP said, "As I told you this is a matter of investigation. Let us leave it to Investigating Officers. It is a process under law which has logical consequences. I cannot say how the IO will do."

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar made it clear that his government will show "no tolerance for this type of crime and we should crackdown on such high-profile crimes".

He said Goa police has not received any response from Tehelka to the letter sent to it seeking details of the alleged incident.

"I am not saying someone is guilty but the girl's email (to her office) is explicit," he said and commended her for showing courage to report the incident.

While Tejpal issued a statement offering to extend the "fullest cooperation" to the police and all other authorities, the magazine's Managing Editor Shoma Chaudhury said they would not go to police on the issue as it was for the victim to decide on it.

AAP Cadres asking donation in cash and Chief Editor of “Tehelka” one such media responsible for dragging many individual for making dubious business himself accused in sexually assault case!!! Retired Chief Justice of India asking one female Intern for sexual favour that also when entire Nation protesting against “Nirbhaya Rape and Murder Case”, AAP Leaders talking tough against corruption and malpractice but themselves asking donation in cash to spend the money for Delhi Assembly Election. They even entered Nitin Gadkari’s house and all business malpractice to expose his tax evasion tactics but now they want donation in cash!!! Dear all, do not waste your time on this issue. Remember what happened to the incident involving the Kerala minister and the movie star? She must have got money and publicity. Matter ended there. Here this Tejpal is so confident that he resigned only for 6 months! The "victim" has sent an email. Tejpal has agreed to give his "fullest cooperation." Tehelka is getting free publicity. When the publicity dies down, the case will be closed amicably.

He came to Goa to enjoy those Crores of Rupees which were given by Cong for carrying on Sting Operations against BJP and its allies. Now the effect of Sinful income is here with solid evidence.
Remember that he had used women to carry on his sting operations. How he must have behaved with those women after sting operation ? It is easy to guess.

I am really surprised with the Comment by some people supporting an Heinous act of Sexual assault ( Could be Rape ) Here the most important point is the Victim is known to the accused since several years .Her Father is Friend of Tejapl Inspite of that she has Complained means this is a Grave Charge .The Victim needs to be protected ,Given Justice .Only Insensitive people donot understand how serious the Rape Charges are .It is an act of Character assassination on a woman.Think of your own sister or daughter before supporting Rape accused

The Criminal Law (Amendment) Ordinance, 2013. This new Act has expressly recognised certain acts as offenses which were dealt under related laws. These new offenses like, acid attack, sexual harassment, voyeurism, stalking have been incorporated into the Indian Penal Code. Amit Shah and Narendra Modi stalked on a woman and punishment for this offense is Imprisonment not less than one year but which may extend to three years, and shall also be liable to fine. Does BJP now have the guts to arrest Modi…

Why rape case? It is only molestation. Rape means sexual intercourse by force. Rape and molestation are two different things, not the same. He may be touching here and there, inside the lift. But a rape - inside the lift: it happens only in Bollywood movies. Na?

Now sanghi's are very hurry to arrest him. All fekus running to New Delhi. Free food, accommodation and air transport from the govt. By the way, what happened to Hallappa case?
