Kundapur, Apr 12: The foundation stone for the hostel to be run by Kollur Mookambika Temple authorities in Kollur here, was laid on Tuesday April 11.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr V S Acharya, minister for medical education, said that the hostel will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 3 crore, and will be helpful for the students.
Taking the opportunity, he announced that a master plan has been drawn for the development of Kollur Mookambika Kshetra, at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crore, and has been handed over to the Muzrai Department for approval. Since the temple attracts thousands of devotees from all over the world each day, there is a need to develop the Kollur temple on the lines of Tirupathi or Mantralaya, he said.
The Muzrai department would shortly approve the plan, he added.
Also present on the occasion were B Nagaraj Shetty, state minister for fisheries, muzrai and ports, K Gopal Bhandari, MLA, Byndoor, H A Kali, administrator, Kollur Mookambika Temple and R Shantharaj, in-charge DC, Udupi.
