Mumbai, Apr 12: The annual Bisu Parba was celebrated with pomp in the city on Mondy April 11 in the Bunts Bhavan at Bhandari Estate of Kurla (E).  The celebration was jointly organized by women and youth wings of cultural and literary committees of Bunts Association Mumbai.



The celebrations were inaugurated by S R Hegde, editor, Sneha Chintane, Bangalore and up and coming sportsstar Rishika Vishwanath Shetty by unfurling arecanut flower.

Sudhakar Hegde, president of Bunts Association, Mumbai presided over the celebration.  Noted enterpreneur Prabhakar J Shetty was the chief guest on the occasion while Mulund Bunts Association president Nagriguttu Vivek Shetty was the guest of honour.


 

Various cultural programmes staged by members of Thane Bunts Association and others were held during the day.  "Yaksha Prashnavali", a book written by Kolyar Raju Shetty was released on the occasion.

Later on a poetry session was held as part of the celebrations.  The poetry session was inaugurated by well-known writer Dr Sunitha M Shetty and was presided over by Kodu Bhoja Shetty, editor of Buntaravani, a monthly magazine sponsored by Bunts Association.  Shimantoor Chandrahas Suvarna, Shanta V Shetty, Srinivas Jokatte, Nandalike Narayan Shetty, Gangadhar Paniyoor, Gopal Trasi, Premnath Shetty, Dr Karunakar Shetty and others presented their poems on this occasion.



The valedictory ceremony held in the evening was presided over by Sudhakar M Shetty.  Immediate past president of Bunts Association B Vivek Shetty was the chief guest while Prabhakar L Shetty, working president of Buntaravani was the guest of honour.

Radhabai T Bhandari memorial award given by the women's wing of Bunts Association was conferred on Pushpa Kushala Hegde by Dr Sharada Subbayya Shetty, head if economics department of Khalsa College.

The programme was compered by Vijaykumar Shetty and Narayan Nandalike.
