Udupi, Apr 13: A two-day workshop on ‘Advances in Communication Technology and Information Security’ was organized by the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), near here.
Sesha Sai, education program manager, CISCO Systems, Bangalore, inaugurated the workshop. Dr B S Prabhu, director, MIT, Manipal, presided over the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, B N Manohar, chief information officer and chief executive, strategic project, MEMG, Bangalore, said that MAHE has plans to set up a digital university and digital hospital.
The MPLS Network System has already been set up to connect the entire network of institutes. Also, the process of digitizing picture archival system for making filmless hospital and central archival system, has been processed. The MPLS system is connected not only to the institutes of MAHE, but also other universities of Manipal Group like Sikkim Manipal University and Maleka Manipal University.
With a view to converting the campus into a wireless one, MAHE has tied up with BSNL and CISCO, which would be beneficial for monitoring patients, he added.
