DLF's 'Mall of India' recognised at international retail meet

New Delhi, Nov 26 (IANS): Real estate major DLF Tuesday said that its flagship retail project 'Mall of India' in Noida in Uttar Pradesh has won recognition at an international event held recently.

According to DLF, even before it's official launch the 'Mall of India' won the jury award of ‘Retail Rising Star’ 2013 at MAPIC which was held in Cannes, France.

MAPIC is a three-day event in which projects from all over the world are showcased and acknowledged for their innovative features in various categories like city, shopping centres, factory outlets, leisure areas and transit zones.

The company said that the award was the first ever to be given to an Indian mall at MAPIC, which saw the presence of retailers and developers from 70 countries.

"It (award) not only acknowledges the premium contribution of DLF 'Mall of India' to the development of the retail real estate industry but also highlights its know-how, talent and professionalism," said Pushpa Bector, senior vice president, head, leasing and mall management.

"DLF 'Mall of India' is the largest retail project till date. Like all other DLF malls, this is poised to be a family destination offering a unique tenant mix consisting of leading international and Indian fashion, entertainment and dining brands."

The company further said that it has modelled the mall after the best in class international flagship properties. It is spread across six levels with zones such as market place, international boulevard, high street, family world and leisure land.

The new property will add many new features such as more than 475 retail units coupled with the largest indoor entertainment city spread over two levels and all connected by over 73 escalators. It is due for completion in the first quarter of 2014.

Recently, the same property was also granted the 'LEED Gold' green building certification and is scheduled for launch in the first quarter of 2014.
