Dubai, April 15: As the final countdown begins for seventh annual day of Konkani Writers in the Emirates 'Daijidubai', convener Hemacharya has informed daijiworld.com that Saira Menezes, editor of 'The Emirates Evening Post', the first afternoon daily of the Middle East region and a very well-known journalist, will be the guest of honor.

"Saira Menezes, a very humble and down-to-earth and fluent Konkani-speaking journalist has kindly agreed to be guest of honor of daijidubai seventh annual day. The day will also see another prominent Konkani revolutionary visionary Eric Ozario with us. He holds the prestigious position of president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and he will be specially flown in from Mangalore. Felix Lobo, a community leader and Mangalorean entrepreneur from Doha will also be one of the guests for the evening," said Hemachraya to daijiworld correspondent.

"CGS Taccode, who was a member of Daijidubai for 4 years when he was in Dubai is also attending the programe. He will be joining us from Doha. Also we expect some prominent Konkani community leaders and writers from around the Gulf to be with us," he said.

Considered to be the first major entertainment event after Lent, Daijidubai anniversary will have an hour-long comedy "Lekh Tem Lekh-ch" written by Mick Max. It is being directed by Hemacharya who will also play a lead role. The other talented actors Sannu Monis (Boliye/ Moodubelle), Dony Correa and Janet will play important roles.

"As usual our prgramme has received a good response and we have only another 60 invitations left with for distribution, as of now. The Emirates English Speaking School at Safa Park, Jumairah will surely see a 'House Full' crowd," said the organisers.

As announced earlier, Eric Ozario-led Mandd Sobhann will be the centre of attraction. Other than Eric Ozario, Joyce Ozario, Rony D`Cunha from Kuwait, Alwyn Fernandes, Dr Rashmi Kiran Fernandes and Rithesh Kiran will render traditional, popular numbers.

"A complete Mandd Sobhann is happening first time in Dubai, and there are a good number of music fans in the UAE who would never like to miss out on such an entertaining and soul-stirring musical programme," says Dayan D`Souza, past convener and president of Daiji Rang mandir.

Dayan D`Souza will be felicitated for his contribution to the Konkani language in particular and the entire society in general. He is the founder of Daijidubai writer's forum and had led the team for five successful years before Hemacharya took over the helm.

Victor Rodrigues will be present specially to attend the programme and he will receive Konkani's coveted 'Daijidubai Leterary Award2006'. The award carries a cash purse of Rs 50,000, a memento and citation.

As the show unfolds at 4-00 pm on Friday, April 21, 2006, the Young Pernalites who are known for their skilful 'Gummtam' performance will entertain the gathering.
