ZTE targets $800 million revenue from India in 2014

New Delhi, Nov 28 (IANS): Chinese telecommunication equipment maker and network solutions provider ZTE Corp is targeting $800 million in revenue from its Indian operations in 2014, the company's chief executive officer Xu Dejun said here Thursday.

“While online purchasing is fast picking up in the country, there is still a large Indian audience which prefers to have a hands-on experience of the product before making any purchasing decision,” the ZTE CEO said while inaugurating its exclusive experience zone in Gurgaon near here.

The company will set up many more stores in other high potential cities, he said.

The company will invest $10 million in marketing and branding initiatives in India. Its revenue for the first 10 months of 2013 rose to over $400 million, it said.

India has always been a key market for ZTE as the country offers immense potential and growth opportunities across the various business segments, Xu said and added that now ZTE has a customer base of over 36 million terminal users in the country.
