Advani to be in the city on Monday

Mangalore: BJP leader Lal Kishen Advani will fly into the city on Monday, April 17.

He is expected to have lunch in the Circuit House and proceed to Kasaragod to attend a function.

Returning to the city later, he is scheduled to leave by a special flight at 5-30 pm.

Akarshan Gold shop to open in Moodbidri

Moodbidri: Akarshan Gold will open their new outlet in Moodbidri on Monday, April 17.

The shop is located in Prestige Towers in the heart of the city. This was informed by partner H B Usman and Kabir Megaravalli at a press conference here on Saturday.

DCIB Arrests Burglar in Bajpe

Mangalore: The District Crime Intelligence Bureau (DCIB) recently arrested Sudhakar Purusha wanted in several theft cases. Purusha (25) was arrested at Porkodi junction under Bajpe police station limits. The police have recovered valuables worth Rs 30,000 including Rs 24,000 cash, a gold chain, a cell phone and a suitcase. He has been accused of theft in Yedapadav, Ganjimutt and Kinnigoli.

Gambling Den Raided - Nine Arrested

Mangalore: A gambling joint was raided by the city police on Friday, April 14. The illegal gambling den was situated in Sundaratnam Complex on Attavar-Nandigudda road. A total of 9 persons have been arrested. The arrested have been identified as Murugesh, Manikanta Prabhu, Guna Shekara, Thangavelu, Jagadish, Mahesh, Ranganathan and Tirupati. Rs 2,500 cash was recovered along with 52 packs of playing cards.

Man Commits Suicide

Karkala: Jaya Varma (35), a resident of Nallur Dandibettur committed suicide by consuming poison on Friday, April 14. Varma died in Karkala Government Hospital where he was admitted. However the motive for the suicide has not yet been revealed. A case has been registered.

Fire on Birumale Hill

Puttur: In a fire accident reported in Puttur on Friday, April 14, an entire hill was engulfed by flames. The Birumale hill in Puttur caught fire on Friday evening. The residents of the neighbouring areas informed the police and the fire brigade crew immediately swung into action and controlled the fire. No casualties have been reported.
