Mumbai, Nov 29 (IANS): A benchmark index of Indian equities markets surged 232.92 points or 1.13 percent in the pre-noon session Friday.
All the sectors were trading in green and the rally was led by banking index (bankex), metal, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and oil and gas sectors.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 20,558.93 points, was trading at 20,767.83 points in the pre-noon session, up 232.92 points or 1.13 percent from the previous day's close at 20,534.91 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 20,819.77 points and a low of 20,558.93 points during the trade so far.
The S&P BSE bankex surged by 246.91 points, metal index gained 136.04 points, PSU index augmented by 91.80 points and oil and gas index increased by 90.41.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also gained 77.80 points or 1.28 percent and was trading at 6,169.65 points.
