Mangalore, Apr 18: "More than 9,000 persons have been pushed to unemployment owing to the closure of slaughter house at Kudroli. It is quite obvious that the closure is directed towards stoking communal flames. The forces which are behind this move are denying one's right to choose his/her own diet," blamed CPM working committee member Vasant Achari.
He was speaking at the indefinite strike staged by various organizations in front of the DC's office criticizing the closure of slaughter house on Monday April 17.
AHINDA district working president Lolaksha, Congress leader Ibrahim Kodijal, Manavata Vedike general secretary Yadav Shetty and others addressed the agitators.
PUCL leader P B D'Sa, Sunil Kumar Bajal, Muslim Central Committee president Haneef Haji, Muneer Katipalla and others were also present.
