Muscat, April 19: Nerissa D’Mello, 11 years old Mangalorean girl from Indian School - Muscat has won the prestigious Under 13 Oman Open Table Tennis Tournament held in the capital of Sultanate of Oman organized by Indian Social Club – Muscat. She has done it again, yet again with a perfect style and extraordinary command over the TT game.  Throughout the tournament, she had successfully enthralled large number of her supporters and TT game lovers, with her entertaining style of perfect TT game.
 
Indian Social Club – Muscat is organizing the Annual Open Table Tennis Tournament for various nationalities residing in and around Muscat. This annual tournament is one of the major Table Tennis tournament and attracts many renowned players of many nations residing in Oman.

Nerissa had, as usual, played enthralling and scintillating table tennis throughout the tournament. True to her caliber, she had been awarded top seed in this tournament in her category. In the final match with second seed Kshitija Peshave, Nerissa had shown a complete domination over the match and won the game with full confidence. The scores were 11-5, 11-4, 11-8, 11-6.

From the starting of the final match at Indian School – Muscat indoor hall, Nerissa had completely dominated the game with perfect shots and cautious defense. She never allowed her opponent to overcome her ability of playing attacking game. Though few instances, Kshitija had tried to match the efficiency of the top seed, unfortunately, she could not hold Nerissa clinching the championship with ease.

Nerissa was the youngest player in the history of Indian School, Muscat to qualify for the CBSC National level sports event when she played in the CBSC National Table Tennis tournaments held at Jaipur, India last year. Truly, it made many Mangaloreans in Muscat proud and happy with her achievements. Furthermore, she became the first player to be crowned with three runner-up trophies in U/10, U/13 & U/16 category last year’s annual Table Tennis Tournament organized by Indian Social Club – Muscat, which will certainly remain a record feat for many years to come. .

This young girl also reached the final of the under 16 category in this same TT tournament.

Gerry D Mello, Konkani Activist of Oman and Do Re Me Fa fame Konkani writer and Lucy D Mello are the proud parents of Nerissa.
