Puttur, Apr 20: The annual festival of centuries-old Shri Mahalingeshwar temple at Puttur, a southeastern taluk headquarters in Dakshina Kannada district, attracts a large number of devotees.

The deity made national news when  BJP MP D V Sadananda Gowda took oath in its name asthe first-timer member in Lok Sabha in 2004.

The annual festival is also known for 'Puttur Bedi' ('Puttur fireworks' in Tulu). The festival this year was held earlier this week.

Dayanand Kukkaje was on the spot to capture the colourful moments.
