Udupi, Apr 20: The much needed second ticket counter at the Indrali railway station was opened recently.  This is for sure a real help for the passengers who had to wait for hours together to book their tickets since there was only one ticket counter so far.

Right from 1993 there was only one ticket counter at the station.  Though several appeals were made to open another ticket counter, it was not opened owing to some problems.  Earlier tickets were issued from Madras server of Southern Railway.  So owing to some technical problems opening of second ticket counter was not possible.

However, now the tickets are being issued through the Mumbai-VT Server of Central Railway which has enabled the opening of second ticket counter at the station, said the ticket booking officer Abdul Aziz.  This means that the Indrali railway station now has two ticket counters and one enquiry counter.

IVRS System Introduced

In another progressive development, the Konkan Railway has introduced the Integram Voice Respond System (IVRS) at the Indrali railway station from Wednesday April 19.

IVRS system helps the passengers to get information about the railway through telephone.  Passengers could call at 137 to get information for free of cost, said the station master Nagraj Shetty.
