Congress, AAP contesting for second spot: Harsh Vardhan

New Delhi, Dec 4 (IANS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief ministerial candidate for Delhi Harsh Vardhan said Wednesday his party was ahead of both the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and those parties were only contesting for the second spot.

"BJP is far ahead of the Congress and the AAP. It is the Congress and the AAP who are contesting for the second position. Nobody can make a dent in our vote bank," Harsh Vardhan told reporters after casting his vote in the Krishna Nagar constituency.

The chief ministerial candidate left home around 8.15 a.m. with his octogenarian mother, wife, two sons and daughter.

The family stopped at a temple on the way to the polling booth.

Harsh Vardhan urged the people to come out in large numbers and cast their vote.

"If a tribal state like Chhattisgarh can get 74.77 voting percentage, why cannot Delhi have 80 percent voter turnout, when people here are all literate?" Harsh Vardhan asked.

Voting began at 8 a.m. Wednesday, and will continue till 5 p.m..

The fate of 810 candidates contesting for the 70-member Delhi assembly will be decided in these elections.
