New Delhi, Dec 4: Thirty policemen divided into four groups from Punjab, Delhi and Gujarat Police force, chased 40 year old Narayan Sai for 58 days over 200 kms before finally nabbing him at Pipli village near Haryana on Tuesday night. Today a Delhi Court Magistrate Dheeraj Modi  granted a 24-hour transit remand of Narayan Sai and his accomplices Hanuman and Ramesh Malhotra to the Gujarat Police.

The son of self-styled Godman Asaram Bapu is facing rape charges, filed against him by two sisters hailing from Surat as well as a 30-year old woman who claimed to have been his victim for up to four years. Narayan Sai's father Asaram Bapu is also under arrest in Jodhpur Jail and facing charges of raping a minor. Sai's legal counsel Pradeep Rana said that Narayan Sai was going to surrender before a court in Gujarat today, had the police not arrested him before he could do so. He opposed the plea put forth by the Police that Sai was absconding and would have continued to stay underground.

Pradeep Rana also told the court that his client had been reluctant to come before the court thus far only because he was apprehensive that the court would be more aggressive towards due to the hype created by the media. Defence Counsel A. P. Singh said that all of the charges were political conspiracies to demean and reduce the influence of Hindu religious leaders.

He and his aides, Bhavik and Hanuman, were taken to Ambedkar Hospital in Punjab for a medical check up and will soon be produced before  a Delhi High court. They will then be interrogated in Surat by the Gujarat Police. While Narayan Sai continues to plead his innocence and claiming that he has been framed, many who were gathered outside Rohini Court ignored his statements and vehemently demanded action against him.

Based on the charges levelled against them, an FIR was filed by the Surat Police at the Jehangirpura Police Station, when the father-son duo were found to have fled. Asaram Bapu had been arrested in September, 2013 while his son continued evading with the police for a little while longer. Acting on a tip off , police personnel set a trap and were able to nab him at Pipli Village near Kurukshetra in Haryana.

Narayan Sai was found in the guise of the local Punjabi's from a saffron headgear - right down commonly worn to pants and jackets in a desperate bid to escape the eyes of the Police. In the details divulged by the police it was revealed that Sai was found in an SUV that carried an Uttar Pradesh registration number and had been tracked in its journey through different states. The Delhi Crime Branch came upon the SUV as it stopped for fuel at a petrol station in Kurukshetra and Sai was arrested along with Hanuman, Bhavik and driver Ramesh Malhotra.
