Puttur, Apr 20: A taluk level convention of Navodaya Self-Help Groups, organized by Navodaya Self-Help Groups (SHGs) Advisory Committee Puttur and Navodaya Grama Vikasa Charitable Trust, Mangalore, will be held on April 23 at Mahalingeshwara Temple grounds.

The convention will be inaugurated at 10.30 am by K Ram Bhat, former MLA of Puttur. M N Rajendra Kumar, president of Karnataka State Co-operative Apex Bank will preside over the function. Scholarships by the trust will be distributed by MLA Shakunthala T Shetty and former MP of Udupi Vinay Kumar Sorake will give away grants to the handicapped.

Mamatha D S Gatti, president of Dakshina Kannada ZP, Pakeer M, president of Puttur taluk panchayat and H S Nagarajaiah, assistant registrar of co-operative societies will be the chief guests on the occasion.

The valedictory programme, presided over by MLA Blasius D’Souza, will be held at 4 pm. B Niranjan, president of Dakshina Kannada Milk Union, Dharanendra Kumar, vice-president of ZP, P B Diwakar Rai, president of district co-operative union, and Pelapparu Venkataramana Bhat, president of South Kanara Agriculture Development Society will be the chief guests.
