BSF arrests two for smuggling arms into Bangladesh


Kolkata, Dec 5 (IANS): The Border Security Force (BSF) has arrested two smugglers and seized some arms and rounds of ammunition as well as 145 bottles of Phensedyl from West Bengal's Malda district, an official statement said here Thursday.

The duo - both residents of Kaliachak in the district - were nabbed by the BSF from Churiantpur border outpost (BOP) Wednesday night.

From them, two pistols, four magazines, 14 rounds of live ammunition and three mobiles were seized besides the bottles of Phensedyl cough syrup which has high codeine content when the smugglers were trying to throw the consignment into Bangladesh across the International Border.

The BSF so far has seized 18 pistols, 28 magazines and 88 rounds of live ammunition this year.
