Mangalore, Apr 21: Curtains have fallen on the month-long abattoir issue which kicked up a lot of curiosity. The Mangalore City Corporation on Thursday, April 20 decided to terminate the contract of the Kudroli Slaughter house made with Rajesh Shetty.

What seems to be the end of the controversy is a result of Shetty’s helplessness which compelled him to urge the MCC to terminate the contract. But his request to return reimburse Rs 2 lac and provide Rs 50,000 as compensation to the losses incurred has been rejected.

It can be recalled that Shetty who wrote to MCC that he was unable to run the abattoir had also demanded compensation for the losses he incurred due to the non-functioning abattoir. The city corporation will now call fresh tenders.

Shetty paid a sum of Rs 2 lac as advance and submitted post dated cheques for the remaining amount of Rs 6 lac. The MCC will be returning the post dated cheques submitted by him, but not the advance of Rs 2 lac as there is no provision to reimburse the same.
