Kuwait, April 21: Bendur Families Kuwait celebrated the ‘Parish Day 2006’ on April 21 from 7.30 pm in the Indian Community School. The programme had been originally scheduled in January 2006 during the feast of St. Sebastian but had to be postponed on account of the sad demise of the Emir of Kuwait.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome by the MC Jason Lasrado followed by a welcome song “Swagat Swagat” by the members.

"Awake, arise and stop not till the goal is reached," - so goes the saying. So also - Uniting the Bendur families in Kuwait was a dream come true for Jossy Pinto who had initiated the first get together on November 4 in the year 2004.  Jossy then officially welcomed the guests, where in he also thanked the sponsors, the committee members and friends for their continued support to organize a well entertaining program to celebrate the Bendur parish feast in Kuwait.

The chief guest,  Fr Melwyn, was escorted to stage by Archie and Jossy and was honoured with a bouquet. Fr Melwyn in his short speech wished the Bendurgars a happy feast and also appreciated the efforts of Jossy and his team for gathering the Bendurgars in Kuwait and bringing out the tradition alive.  Fr Melwyn then inaugurated the website along with the co-sponsor of the event Elias Sanctis. Lancy Rodrigues who has always been a great support in the community programmes was felicitated with a memento. The choreographers of dances were also felicitated.

Thrilling dances were performed by the well-known dance groups in Kuwait like the Jovas XLNC, Ocean Kids, KIDZ, VMSD etc. In between the dances, catchy Konkani songs were sung by the Bendur voices – Elwyn, Cyril, Jovita, Muriel, Dillon and Allen. Music was directed by the well-known music maestro Adrian Gomes and sound/lights, Illuminations was provided by DJ Entertainers and Anand D`souza.

The main attraction of the day, the stage-play, “Tamaso” written by Benna Ruzai and directed by Lany Rodrigues was very well enacted by Lancy and his team Antony, Roshan, Anand, Lolita and Renny and provided good relaxation.  The audience had a hearty laugh and a good way of starting a relaxed weekend.

Dance sessions followed with spot prizes called in between. A vote of thanks was proposed by Archie Menezes. All that starts well ends well, and  so also the programme came to an end at 11.00 pm with an entry ticket draw and a hymn of  St. Sebastian followed by delicious feast dinner prepared by M & M Confectionery.
