Mangalore, Apr 21: K Sanjeeva Shetty (80), father of state fisheries minister B Nagaraj Shetty passed away in a private hospital here in the wee hours of Friday April 21. He was admitted to a private hospital after complaining about chest pain in midnight at his house at Bijai.
Sanjeeva Shetty had started his career in the shipping division of Pierce Leslie Indian Ltd. Having worked there for long he started his own Shri Ganesh Shipping Agency in 1979. Today Ganesh Shipping Company has carved out a special niche for itself in the shipping business.
Other than his commercial engagements, he had involved himself in various social and religious activities too. He was the managing trustee of Shri Manjunath Temple, Kadri for two terms. He was also the founder president of famous Kadri Kambala Samiti.
In the political circles he had served as the district treasurer of Bharatiya Jan Sangh before devoting himself to the establishing and strengthening of BJP in the district.
He is survived by wife Madhavi Shetty, two sons including Nagaraj Shetty andfive daughters.
