Karkala, Apr 21: Noted female impersonator artiste of Yakshagana, Ratnakar Shetty (38) died at his Sanoor residence here on Friday morning, after a brief illness.
Bitten by the Yakshagana bug at a tender age of 15, he has been part of several troupes like Aruva, Kumbla, Kuntaru, Saligrama and Mangaladevi melas, for over two decades.
He will be well remembered for his 'Devi' roles. He had taken part in shows held in distant places like Bangalore and Mumbai.
Shetty had recently arranged a Yakshagana show and had honoured his co-artistes and other colleagues in the field.
