Puttur, Apr 21: An ex-serviceman has been accused of attempting to rape a widow at Kallugudde of Noojibaltila village near Kadaba here on Thursday April 20 night.

The accused Jose alias 'Ittimeese' Jose (45), an ex-serviceman is a bachelor.  On Thursday night he is said to have entered the house of the said widow at Kadumane of Noojibaltila and attempted to rape her.  However, the woman managed to escape after pushing Jose down to the ground.

Jose who was under the influence of alcohol fell down and sustained minor injuries.  Meanwhile, the woman too has sustained injuries.  Her sons Varundas who is working as electrician at Kadaba has filed a case with the Kadaba police in this regard.

But the case is slated to take new twist with both the victim as well as the accused now having been admitted to Puttur government hospital.

This is not the first time that Jose has been accused in similar case.  He had attempted rape on a woman on Christmas night couple of years ago.  He had stabbed those had come to rescue the woman then.  A complaint was lodged in the Kadaba police station then.
