Sadananda Kavoor Nominated District In-charge
Mangalore: Sadananda Kavoor has been nominated by the Karnataka State Yadava Samaj to be in-charge of Dakshina Kannada to handle the activities of the forum. As stated by a press release, Kavoor is the secretary of Mangalore taluk committee.
Karnataka Bank - Interest Rates on NRE Deposits Hiked
Mangalore: Karnataka Bank has hiked interest rates on its Non-Resident (External) Rupee Deposit (NRE) Scheme with effect from April 20. This is in response to the Reserve Bank of India’s step to liberalize the interest rate ceiling for NRE deposits in the annual monetary policy statement announced on April 18.
The interest rate on deposits of one year to less than two years has been increased from 6.04 percent to 6.29 per cent per annum. Interest rate on deposits of two years to less than three years, currently at 6.04 percent, has been changed to 6.29 per cent per annum and for deposits of three years.
For less than five years, interest rate has been changed from 6.02 per cent to 6.27 per cent per annum.
A press release stated that the changes also hold good for repatriable deposits renewed after their current maturity period.
Graduation Ceremony of YMC on April 24
Mangalore: The graduation ceremony of Yenepoya Medical College, founded by Islamic Academy of Education, will be held on April 24 at 7 pm in YMDC campus, Deralakatte. Dr V S Acharya, minister for Medical Education will be the chief guest and Prof K M Kaveriappa, vice-chancellor of Mangalore University, will be the guest of honour.
The ceremony will be presided over by Islamic Academy of Education chairman, Al Haj Yemopoya Abdullah Kunhi. Moideen Kunhi Memorial oration will take place at 10.30 am in the YMDC campus.
A talk on “Challenges in creating world class health care institutions” will be given by Prof H S Ballal, vice-chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education.
