Karkala, Apr 22: The Justice K S Hegde Charitable Trust Foundation plans to construct two new hospitals at Mundkur and Bailur villages in Udupi district, said foundation chairman N Vinay Hegde at a press conference here on Friday April 21.

The hospitals, which will provide medical and dental care, are expected to begin functioning by October-November 2006.

The Founder’s Day of Nitte Education Trust will be celebrated on Tuesday April 25 at Nitte Mahalinga Adyanthaya Memorial Engineering College premises. It will be an annual event at Nitte, starting this year, in memory of its founder the late Justice K S Hegde.

From April 25 to 28, an inter-collegiate cultural and arts fest, Anandostsav-2006 will be held. Union minister Oscar Fernandes will inaugurate the fest and Administrative Reforms Commission chairman M Veerappa Moily will be the chief guest. Apart from various competitions for engineering colleges, the fest will also have music and cultural programme by students of different colleges.

As part of the fest, Medical students will hold Medivision, a three-day medical exhibition and free diabetes and blood pressure check-up at Deralakatte from Tuesday April 25. Free oral cancer examination and school health programme will also be held at Deralakatte Dental College on the same day.
