Udupi, Apr 22: These days theft cases are on rise in the city despite night patrolling by various teams of police. The theft in jewellery at Carstreet here is another to 'police patrolling.'

The thieves who broke into Padmashree Jewellers from the roof have decamped with 5 kgs of silver ornaments worth Rs 1 lac on Friday April 21 night. The thieves could not steal gold ornaments since they were kept in a safe locker.

The thieves have entered the shop by making a hole on its roof after reaching the roof by breaking open the back door adjacent clinic.  The hole was made using pick axe and sickle.
