MAHE VC distributes Manipal Arogya Suraksha Scheme Cards

Udupi: Manipal Arogya Suraksha scheme cards were distributed to members of the Rural Maternity and Child Welfare Centre by Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) vice-chancellor H S Ballal here on Saturday April 22.

The cards were given to 45,000 people in the district, said Ballal. The scheme cards provide health care insurance up to Rs 30,000 for families below poverty line.


CM Promises Full Support for District Complex

Kundapur: In response to a memorandum issued by JDS district unit, chief minister Kumaraswamy has pledged full support for the construction of district complex in Udupi. He accepted the memorandum during his visit to Kollur on Saturday, April 22.

An eight-acre land in the district headquarters has been identified for the complex.

JDS leaders Belapu Deviprasad Shetty, C N Tangappan, G M Cheriabba, Jagadish Yadiyala, Sablady Manjaiah Shetty, Srikant Adiga and Kishore Kumar were among those present on the occasion.


Five Injured in Car Accident at Jodukatte

Karkala: Five people were injured in an accident when their Zen hit a circle at Jodurasthe. They were on the way to their house in Andar after attending a relative’s wedding.

The injured are Sumith (aged one and half year), Nitin Raj (16) of Hosangady, Rajesh (25) of Andar, Shashikala (24) and Sharath (4).

Out of the five, Sumith has sustained head injuries and is in a critical condition. Rajesh, Sumith and Shashikala are recovering in a hospital in Mangalore.
