Chikmagalur, Dec 11: In a tragic incident, an expatriate driver hailing from Mudigere lost his life in an accident that occurred near Salwa area, about 60 km from AlHasa in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Monday December 9.

The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Latheef Moidin, a resident of Mudigere here. He was working as driver in Al-Baig Transportation company from about two years.

The mishap took place while he was on the way back from Shaybah after dropping the workers at Aramco project site. The bus suddenly went out of control and overturned at a cross, and he died on the spot. The body is preserved in King Fahad Hospital, AlHasa.

He was brother-in-law of Basheer Lawyer, Dammam. He is survived by two brothers working in the same company, two elder sisters and also a large number of relatives and friends. Moreover, he was a driver for Umra trips, and was known among the Mangalorean expat community in Dammam, Khobar and Jubail areas.

Consent and other required papers have been obtained from his family, meanwhile efforts are under way to secure the possession of the body and send it back to India for the last rites.

According to sources, the paper work and other formalities from the Indian embassy, the hospital and the police station have been expedited with the coordination of IFF Al Hasa and Riyadh Community Welfare members.

A large number of Mangaloreans residing in Dammam and surrounding areas expressed their condolence at the sad demise.
