Mangalore, Apr 26: In order to restore peace and ensure development of the Naxal-affected areas in Dakshina Kannada district, the government has released a sum of Rs 100 lac. This was informed by minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj M C Udasi while speaking to the press on Tuesday, April 25.

The funds have been given to the eight gram panchayats in Beltangady taluk, he said adding that a total of Rs 99.28 lac has been estimated to undertake a total of 56 developmental works in the region.

Out of this sum an amount of Rs 12.26 lac has been utilized so far, he added.

In DK and Udupi district 14 check dams and one flood prevention work have been undertaken in DK district at an estimated cost of Rs 12.13 crore. In Udupi, 24 check dams and flood prevention work has been carried out at an estimated cost of Rs 16.54 crore, the minister informed.
