Mangalore, Apr 26: The RTO officials have seized 8 contract carriage buses for flouting rules on Tuesday April 25.

As per the rules contract carriage buses are expected to carry passengers only from the starting point to the last destination with no pick-ups in between.  However these buses,  primarily running between the city and Puttur, Uppinangady, Sullia, Beltangady etc pick up passengers in between at Jyothi, Pumpwell, BC Road etc.

Noting this, the RTO officials seized such buses on Monday and Tuesday.  The step was taken after KSRTC lodged a complaint with the RTO in this regard.

KSRTC to Run More Buses

Following the step taken by RTO, KSRTC has decided to increase its trips to Puttur, Sullia, Dharmasthal, Beltangady etc from Wednesday April 26.  While 50 more trips will be introduced to Puttur, 25 additional trips will be introduced to Dharmasthal, said the KSRTC sources.
