Dhaka, Dec 13 (IANS): At least five people have been killed in attacks by Jamaat-e-Islami supporters in various parts of Bangladesh since the execution of party leader and war criminal Abdul Quader Mollah Thursday night.

Police said an Awami League leader and a Juba League functionary were killed Friday morning in Satkhira, bdnews24.com reported.

A rickshaw puller was killed in a clash between law enforcers and Jamaat activists in Noakhali's Begumganj.

A Bangladesh Nationalist Party activist was shot dead at Zianagar Upazila in Pirozpur while a Jamaat activist was run over by a truck when he was trying to set the vehicle on fire in Jessore's Bagharparha.

Meanwhile, at least 150 vehicles were burnt and over 50 vandalised as Jamaat-Shibir activists went on the rampage across the country Friday protesting the execution of Mollah, The Daily Star reported.

Of those, 85 vehicles were burnt in Bogra, 12 in Dhaka, and the rest in different districts of the country. The agitators also damaged roadside shops on their way.

They also blocked the Rangpur-Dhaka highway and Bogra-Naogaon highway by putting trees on the roads.

The rail links through Bogra were also suspended Friday as Jamaat-Shibir men took out more than 650 pandel chips from railway tracks at Kahaloo, Panchpir and Narua Mel area of the town.
