Nitte GP set to prepare its first waste disposal unit

Karkala, Dec 14: Nitte gram panchayat is all set to earn the distinction of an ideal gram panchayat.  It is on the verge of preparing its first waste disposal unit and be an example for others.  MLA Sunil Kumar has said that the government will release additional grant for the purpose and he will be releasing an amount of Rs five lac from the MLA’s fund for the purpose.

He was speaking at a cleanliness movement and distribution of facilities programme held at the gram panchayat grounds by national service project of Dr Shanker Adyantaya memorial first grade college and Nitte gram panchayat.  

He said that cleanliness is an indivisible part of life and it is the responsible of youth to build a society free of plastic.  There should be an awareness programme in this regard, he said.

Navin Nayak, president of Nitte gram panchayat, presided over the programme and said that cleanliness can be maintained at individual, family and community levels.  The waste at houses can be converted into manure.  He said that national culture should be maintained and grown.

Pravin Salian, president of taluk panchayat committee, APMC member Balakrishna Hegde, Nitte pre university college and NSS unit coordinator Rashmi spoke on the occasion.

Mohan Rao, PDO of Nitte gram panchayat gave a key note address. gram panchayat secretary Ashok welcomed the gathering.  NSS unit leaders Prajna and Lenson were present at the dais.
