Bantwal, Apr 26: Dakshina Kannada Youth Janata Dal vice president Norbert Rodrigues alias Munna, was assaulted by a group of unidentified persons at Loretto Padav near here on Tuesday April 25 night.

Norbert is a bus agent by profession, and on Tuesday night he was on his way home after the work when he was assaulted.  His house is situated at Mandadi near SVS College here.  So he was going home on his mobike after leaving his elder brother to his home at Barekad when the unidentified persons knocked him down from the bike by hitting their Tata Qualis car to his bike.

As soon as he fell on the ground, the persons surrounded him and assualated him with iron rods.  They hit him on his head and leg before some men travelling on an auto saw this and shouted for help.  At this, the attackers left Norbert in a pool of blood and fled the place.

Now Norbert has been admitted to a private hospital at B C Road with serious injuries in his head and legs.
