Mangalore, Apr 27: Amidst huge gathering of curious relatives, friend and well-wishers, the Dinesh-Ashwini couple entered wedlock under a pipal tree adorned with simple attire and no regular traditions.
On Wednesday evening, the open ground at Bangra Kulur became witness to one of the every unique marriage ceremonies of this decade.
The much talked about wedding had a host of dignitaries including the deputy commissioner of DK district H V Parshwanath.
Under the decorated pipal tree and the stage illumined by Diyas the two-hour wedding celebration contained only exchange of garlands and the wearing of the Karimani. All throughout the ceremony, the women sang wedding songs (Shobane).
Simplicity was the key word here but what was more enthusing was that everyone who attended the wedding had a gift-a book. A special book counter was set up at the venue where one could obtain books to be presented to the couple.
Under the leadership of Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman Alvas Education Trust and senior scholar Prof Amrith Someshwar, this simple and unique wedding took place.
