Mangalore, Apr 28: Dasajana, Mangalore, in association with Kavitha Live Cassettes, has arranged for a special screening of Girish Kasaravalli's national award winning film, Haseena, starring Tara at Jyothi cinema here on Sunday and Monday at 10 am.

Addressing a press meet here on Thursday, film director Girish Kasaravalli said that the purpose behind this special show was to instill a sense of appreciation and likeness towards art movies. Art movies, he said, cannot be released in theatres as they have shortage of audience and thus do not survive in competition with high budget commercial movies.

The film show was a dream come true, said Kasaravalli, as most part of this film had been shot on locations here. Shot on a shoestring budget, Haseena went on to make headlines with Tara winning the national award for best actress.

Film buffs in the city are in for a treat during this extended weekend. Cashing in on the May Day holiday on Monday,

The film screening is an idea of Davangere-based Gopalkrishna who screens award-winning art films during weekends in select centers across the State.

The movie screening will be inaugurated by Corporation Bank executive director K L Gopalakrishna.
