Udupi, Apr 28: A couple from Kerala who had stayed in a lodge at Manipal near here was found dead in their room Friday April 28 morning. The police reports said that they had ended their life consuming poison.
The couple has been identified as Haridas and Shrija of Kerala. They were found dead in "Annapoorna Lodge" situated opposite Syndicate head office at Manipal near here on Thursday morning.
A suicide note too was found near their body in which they had stated that they had decided to end their life after Haridas was diagnosed with cancer at KMC Hospital. Both of them have signed the suicide note.
The couple had come to KMC Hospital for a check up. During the check up it was revealed that Haridas was suffering from terminal disease. Distressed at this, the couple ended life.
However, the lodge staffs were unaware about the suicide till Thursday morning when the room was opened after it was found stinking. Though it was not yet exactly known as when they committed suicide, it is suspected that they had committed suicide at least a couple of days ago.
The Manipal police have registered a case in this regard.
