Mulki, Apr 30: After facing public humiliation in the Kudroli Slaughterhouse episode, the Bajrang Dal image in the district received another jolt when the accused in the burning down of a Tata Sumo vehicle carrying cattle at Pavanje, were found sheltered in the house of a Bajrang Dal leader.
The inhuman attack on cattle runners by Bajrang Dal activists on April 27 and the setting ablaze of the Tata Sumo vehicle carrying cattle on Pavanje Bridge near Suratkal had put the police on an intensive operation to nab the troublemakers. On April 29, six of the accused in the case were pinned down by the Mulki police. The arrested are said to be Bajrang Dal leaders and were sheltered in the house of Bajrang Dal leader (Pramukh) Vinay L Shetty.
According to police sources there were total of 17 members who conducted the assault.
The arrested have been identified as Srikanth Kavoor, Sundar Kodialbail, Unnikrishnan, Prasad, Ramachandra and Rajesh Shetty.
The search and arrest operation by the Mulki police was assisted by Highway Patrol under the Panambur sub-division. The vehicle used by the miscreants has also been seized.
