Mangalore, May 1: K S Suresh Babu who was recently promoted as Additional Director-General of Police (Western Range) retired from service on Sunday, April 30. He was given a farewell on Sunday here.
Speaking to media persons on his retirement Suresh Babu expressed satisfaction over the way in which the entire police department strived to control the naxal menace in the region. This problem cannot be completely mitigated, he said adding that people’s co-operation is a pre-requisite.
The DK Police will send a fresh proposal to the government for setting up a police commissionerate in Mangalore, he said. The proposal will be sent by Superintendent of Police B Dayananda.
The earlier proposal was submitted when Udupi was in Dakshina Kannada district. As Udupi is no longer with DK, a new proposal needs to be sent to the government, Suresh Babu added.
There was a need to upgrade a few police outposts in the district into regular police stations and add additional police stations, he said.
B S Lokesh Kumar, Additional Superintendent of Police was also present on the occasion.
