Mangalore, May 6: The new Inspector General of Police who was to take charge on Friday faced disappointment as he was instructed not to take charge.
The State Government which is said to have held back the appointment of IGP (Intelligence-Security) Raghavendra Auradkar as IGPolice (Western Range) was to take charge at the Police Headquarters on Friday.
Auradkar who was to succeed S Suresh Babu, Additional Director-General of Police (Western Range) received a phone call from Bangalore minutes before he was to take charge. He was asked not to take charge.
While the DK police had made all arrangements to accord a royal welcome to the new IGP, the instant developments made them call off the event.
However, Auradkar is expected to take charge on Saturday.
